관광으로 인한 탄소발생량은 지구 총 발생량의 5% 정도를 차지합니다. 여행이 잦을 수 밖에 없는 유엔은 기후변화발자욱의 50%가 되고 10억불이 여행비용으로 쓰여집니다. 그렇다고 안 다닐 수는 없겠고요. 비지니스석으로 뉴욕 북경을 왕복하면, 3톤의 이산화탄소를 발생시키니 (한사람일년 평균 5.5톤 발생) 문제입니다. 이 보고서는 여러가지 대안을 내고 있는데 여행줄이기, 간 김에 여러일 처리하기, 탄소상쇄하기 등입니다.
Travel contributes with approximately 50% of the United Nations’ climate footprint and represents a major cost to UN; over 1 US$ billion per year for the collective UN family. At the same time, travel is an essential mechanism for UN to deliver its mandate, and can often not be avoided. The emissions for e.g. a business class roundtrip New York-Beijing is 3,0 t CO2 eqv, which can be compared with the average emission per person, which is 5,5 t CO2 eqv/year.
